While all the eye candy is nice we noticed that it really eats up memory. The laptop, specifically, had 2gb ram with Core 2 chip. It really turned me off to it and if Vista won't 'solve' its resource hogging my next comp will most likely be a Mac. Why should I have to turn off all the eye candy, features, etc to reclaim my speed/responsiveness? . That's by design. If you have 2GB of RAM why not use it. I find my machine faster with Vista. people will always try to stop you doing the right thing if it is unconventional

Rellik wrote in post #3605853 I myself will stick to XP for awhile. If you have any older hardware, they may not work with Vista because there aren't any drivers for them. Even if the drivers are available, they will not be as refined as their XP counterparts. Michael Kuriger

I had a few teething problems early on but now Vista is just fine and it is my default OS on both machines.

That's the thing, the eye candy seemed to eat up all the RAM leaving no 'room' for actual program usage Of course imagine how fast Win3.11forWorkgroups would run on a 2gb/Core2 machine . Dan

I have Vista-it came with my new computer that has over 2.5GHz processor. It is fast enough for my CS3 and PainterX. I have had no compatibility problems. The things you do for yourself die with you, the things you do for others live forever.

You're running CS2 in Vista? I heard reports all over the web that CS2 is not going to work in Vista and many are complaining about the forced upgrade to CS3 for Vista operatibility. 1D-IIN, 30D, sigma 120-300, 24-105 IS f4 L, 70-200 IS f2.8 L, 50 1.4, 580 EX, Bogen 680B/3229

I love vista, it's a really solid platform. Most people complain because the early lack of drivers for hardware. As if it were microsofts fault. Microsoft puts out driver SDK's long before vista was released. Blame the hardware manafacturer for not making compatible drivers earlier.
