Vista works just as good if not better than XP for me. I upgraded my 2 year old computer to Vista at the beginning of the year without any issues. It wasn't a necessary upgrade, I did it because I wanted to and had a copy of Vista available.

If you're using XP and can do all you need to, I don't see any reason to go out and upgrade now. At the same time, if you get a new computer that comes with Vista I don't see a reason to go out of your way to get rid of Vista.

To the Vista users, some questions

What do you fo for color management?
IS there a fix to the greyed out screen security turning off all color management and forcing a re-boot? Have you found the workaround?

Is MS' latest "you have to do it our way or the highway" color management scheme not making things trickier?

What about lightroom? I can't get it to run stable on a 64bit machine. Period. And CS2 is also not supported. Running o-kay?

Huh? Stuck the Spyder on there and it runs like a top.

Make sure your video card driver loads before the Spyder calibraion loads and you are set. In other words buy good video hardware that has competently written drivers.

I run both in 32 bit with almost zero problems. I still get the same out of memory errors from CS3 and Panorama Tools with Vista as with XP when I try to make insane sized panos. Large jpeg from a 1Ds Mk.II makes them sneeze when stitching together 27 16.7mp shots...

people will always try to stop you doing the right thing if it is unconventional
Full frame and some primes.

you must have some REALLY old hardware!

I don't have any old hardware, but others might. Lot's of companies aren't going to spend more money to support a new OS. So, it's an excuse to force you to upgrade. And it is not only hardware, but software as well.
