Hummingbird Hawkmoth

Browsing around here this morning and realized I haven't posted anything that I've done yet so here's a hummingbird moth series.

Hummingbird moths work a lot like the normal hummingbird their wings beat very fast and they hover by flowers to drink (or do whatever it is they're doing when they uncurl their nose/mouth aparatus).

Lovely series - I tend to just watch astounded when I see these and forget to take any pics (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it).

We only get one species here in the UK and those are immigrants from Southern Europe. I have seen just one this year, but I saw several last year, enough to discover that they are very difficult to photograph at all yet alone well. And here you are with your first macro posts showing us all how it should be done. Knockout shots.

Thanks for all your comments guys I really appreciate them. I got very lucky with this guy, he's the first of only two I have ever seen but he was pretty patient with me and let me crawl around after him as he went flower to flower.

Great series of shots/captures, #2 is my favorite, I've yet to capture one as on the rare occasions that I've seen them they're always in a hurry & just pass right on through

Saw one years ago but wasnt so into photography then. Well captured.
