Hiya RM,

Great shots, poor ol Gals looking a bit battered in these shots.

How the Sciatica today, hopefully it's better or if not at least eased up some??

I'll be glad when this server has got it's self sorted.

Cheers for now
Mark

Interesting if it really is useful for focusing. Now if they sold it for about £800 I might be interested :)

Definitely for tripod work it is a major aid to high mag work. Maybe the 40D will have this feature - that should retail at about £800. £3000 is crazy money to throw at a hobby but I do want to shoot sports in the rain and anyway it doesnt look like i'll have a holiday this year (backpacking with sciatica?) so I need something to smile about :)

Sure looks perfectly focused to me RM... I'm sorry to hear you are having physical issues as well.. I still have another month of therapy to go before I will have reasonable use of my lens supporting shoulder.... That will make a total of 10 months I have been more down and out than functional.... Good luck brother... I hope everything works out for you.... Take care

you need some pain now and again to make you appreciate good health but 10months would stretch anyone's patience - you must have messed it up pretty bad. I'm only on my fourteenth week of sciatica, the thought of 6 more months.......well i'd rather not think.

Absolutely flabbed out muscles in the left arm from inactivity for all these months but I am getting it back a little more every session..... Yep as we get older it is the injuries that remind us we ain't gettin any younger..... In my twenties, I would have got away with a sprain probably :) :).... Good luck RM... I'l be cheering you on.....Take care

Wasn't criticising your expenditure RM- sounds like you need a reward to take your mind off the pain you are going through. :). Suspect it'll be a few years before some of the features of the mk3 (high iso performance and liveview) work their way down into the prosumer range though but am looking forward to see what the "40D" does offer if it ever appears. Wonder if we should all start lobbying canon for an ideal macro camera body :) .

didn't think you were Brian - didnt mean to sound defensive! It may well be close to the ideal macro body although the 1.6 crop has its advantages. Maybe the perfect body would have choice of sensor size, live swivel LCD and green body?

I love the live swivel view on my G3 and miss it when using the 400D.
It allows the camera to be held at arms length and at awkward/low angles.

I agree, its great for low level shots. Can't imagine why Canon left it off the G7.

Hi RM,

Sorry to hear that the back is still flaring. Hope the pain subsides. Sciatica colored nearly two years of my life, so I hope you do better than I did.

The concept of an ideal macro is interesting. If you were designing the perfect macro camera, what features whould you include.

On the digital crop feature, have you compared the quality of an image taken with a smaller sensor with the center crop of your new full sized sensor with both images taken with the same camera position.

I was going to check a center crop of my 1Ds Mark II against the uncropped image of my 20d, but the 20d died before I could do so.

Hope you're feeling better.

Irwin
