Some more refractions.
The first one is interesting as it's a single shot of a raindrop but I still haven't worked out where the small drop was. The rest are dewdrop refractions and are all focus stacked. Apologies for the flood effect one- not very PC- but suspect that's why it popped into my mind to do it.

As always, great series! It looks like there is a bubble inside the dew in the first shot ;)

Stunning Brian...I always love viewing your dewdrop photos. Someday I hope to devote some more time to trying more of these shots. I've played a little with focus stacking, but then got side-tracked...so many tools to learn and experiment with.

Let us know if you figured out the first shot. I have one I took a few months ago like that. A drop within a drop? It was created artifically by spraying water on a bouquet of flowers. Then upon review I noticed the second 'drop'.
Always curious about how that happened...

Great Shots Brian!!
If you don't mind me asking....how did you do that? I'm fairly new to DP and have never seen shots like that. Is it for the advanced?

Every one of them is gorgeous, but I think #3 and #7 really stand out. The colours really are wonderful.

Thanks for the comments all - much appreciated :)
Kelly- they do take a bit of practice and you need to be able to shoot around 2:1 magnification or higher (the dewdrops are 1 to 2mm in diameter most of the time)
There's a tutorial here on how they are done http://www.flickr.com …iscuss/72157594313729574/ (external link)

Superb series again Brian. I think #3 is my favourite.

2:1 eh? That's why my attempts have struggled. Seems like I'm going to have to persuade the missus to let me buy some extension tubes. Not an easy task.

Well done, you have a keen eye. I would never have thought to look for the reflections of the flowers.

I wanted to use that filter effect in #6 the other day but cant remember where I have it. I downloaded it but cant remember what its called - please?

Great series, I never get the 'oh not more of these' thought, they always look exciting.
