I need some hlp. I am in the Navy and am visiting Hong Kong today. We are moored about 1/4 mile off the coast and tonight I think will be agreat sky/cityline shot. I would like to know if someone can teach me how to do a panoramic shot at night. I know a tripod is a must and I have one of those. my ccamera is a 30D. Thank you very much!

I'm no expert but if you're going to use multiple shots and stich them together later, I'd suggest to use manual settings for all - focus, WB, aperture, shutter to minimize tonal ect. differences between frames. Hopefully it's going to be clear and still night:)

I don't have any tips, but I wanted to suggest something else. I was on the Carl Vinson a few years ago when they were on the east coast and when we pulled in there, I got some great shots of Stanley Market and went over to the Kowloon (not sure how to spell it) and got some great shots of Hong Kong that way. Was very cheap ride to Kowloon, but the trip to Stanley Market took some time.

Make sure you take them from the same spot, don't move around, or your angles will be off. Be sure to overlap your shots by 1/3, some suggest to take vertical shots, but I guess this depends on what you want the end result to be.
