The 1Ds2 and 1D2 can do this as well, no need to upgrade to the 1D3 just for this feature. Yes, it is a nice feature, I believe you can also set a max shutter speed too.

I've been using ISO shift in Tv mode, all the time, and even limited the Av to get the DOF I'm looking for.

But, I haven't used it in Av mode. I'm usually shooting with longer lenses, and 1/60th isn't fast enough for my hands. I just have to remember the option is there when I'm shooting shorter lenses.

Not sure why the firmware limits the "slowest shutter option" to 1/60... no reason a future update can't make this C.Fn allow for a minimum shutter speed of 1/250 or even higher.

Very cool to hear... my 10D didn't do this. ;-)a

Yep, this is going to be a great capibility. I think I'm going to have to set down and figure out all the different modes I want and build a set of CFs to support each one, then save them to an SD card. Does anyone know if I can just leave an SD card in the camera to use only for different settings, and never have to worry about a) it writing images to the SD card, or b) my settings files getting written to the CF card? I'd like to use the SD for this purpose.

It seems to be such a useful feature, i've used it a fair amount on a friends nikon d200. You can set the max iso and slowest shutter speed so you can stop it from using 1600 and above if you want. I don't see why canon don't do it, it wouldn't be that difficult.

They did do it... that's what this thread is talking about... or did I misunderstand what you meant?

Can the Canon put an upper limit on the ISO? I think the N's have that one.

I've not come across this before - kudos to the OP for figuring out how to make this work :)

Yup, you can also limit ISO to 1600 or lower if you like.

You can limit just about everything imaginable except White Balance modes, which kind of surprises me. I mean, if they let you take Av and M off the plate, why not do the same with WB modes.

So shooting outdoors today, I realized that I would sometimes like to set the slowest shutter to faster than 1/60... no idea why Canon limited this C.Fn to 1/60th for the lower limit.

[GIFS ARE NOT RENDERED IN QUOTES]

but with the 1d3...why?

the ridiculoulsy low iso is one of, if not THE, greatest upgrades to this camera.
