Hello,

I have read quite a few of your tests at your site, and I just want to really say thanks for taking the time, effort, and work to compare so many lenses for us. I, like many I'm sure, don't have thousands laying around to drop on L glass and every purchase is carefully and painstakingly thought out, so that we spend our dollars farther and wiser. Your tests are a great asset and tool so that we can evaluate performance without ever spending a dime and taking all the risk ourselves in buying these lenses.

I myself am looking for a replacement for my kit lens and the top runners are the Sigma 17-70, Sigma 18-200, and Tamron 17-50, well and maybe the Canon 17-85 IS, but that one is distant IMO. So, your work really helps compare the attributes of each. I just wanted to point it out and say thank you for your efforts. It really helps people on a budget who can't afford one of every lens or even one very good L lens.

Regards,

Mike

Great tests once again - always enjoy looking at your work. This is obviously effort that you do not have to expend, but many of us are glad that you do. :)

Thanks for the words, Mike. As for which lens, the 1770 and 1750 are better optically than the 18200 across the board and in every way. So you should really think hard before choosing the compromising superzoom ahead of the 1770 and 1750. Of course, every lens choice is a compromise. Each lens has its perks, to be sure. If I had no current walkaround zoom, my order would be this: 1750, 1770, 18200. But again, each person's needs are different. Take care.

Jojo, since we are on a roll here, I want to jump in too:)
I really appreciate all the hard work you put into you lens tests.
Your tests helped me a lot in deciding on my lens choices, and so far you have been spot on!
