Is there an option in CS2 that will force the app to recalculate and accurately resplay an image when I dynamically resize the window during the workflow?

For example, at non 100 percent sizes many of the objects I shoot are displayed with crazy pixelation due to horizontal lines in the objects.

To make certain adjustments while seeing the image clearly, sometimes I have to temporarily actually resize the image to a number of pixels that will fit on the screen, but that is a pain.

Seems like there must be a user option that will force PS to recalcute how to display the image when I dynamically resize the window.

Hope I am making sense here....

Did the question itself makes sense?

Just wondering if no one had an answer or if no one could understand what I was asking.

Hi Turning,

Yes, your question made sense, and it's one that comes up from time to time.

Unfortunately, that's just the way it is. Photoshop is doing its best to display pixels accurately for you, but if you're not viewing 1:1 (one image pixel per one screen pixel), PS has to do some interpolation.

I'm sure you'll agree that the problem is worst at 66.67% and 33.33%, and only moderately bad at 50% and 25%. And if you press "Ctrl 0" for fit screen, it'll be atrocious. The mathematics make it so.

I guess one solution would be to get a monster screen, so you can view at 100% all the time!

To be honest, we've all had this problem at one stage or another. We just learn to accept, and eventually, ignore it.

The only time it's a real problem is for sharpening. I am happy to do colour adjustments at whatever size, but you must MUST be viewing at 100% to apply sharpening.

Thanks for the reply. I guess I can see why PS made the decision not to waste cpu cyles displaying accurately, but I think it should be a user option to take a moment of two and redisplay the image more accurately. I suppose there might be software issues I am not aware of.

Seems like many other apps do a decent job here, including free apps like MS Office Picture Manager which has a sizing slider that reders the image pretty accurately very fast.

I agree is is mostly an issue when sharpening, but there are plenty of times I want to judge or compare a very large image at something less than 100%, like when I am choosing between different shots of the same object. I find I have to change the image sizes to something that fits on the screen to compare images side by side. And remember to change the size back before I save anything.
