Hi everyone I went out first thing this morning and saw quite a few Common Darters tenerals I think they are called , recently emerged, which was nice to see in an area about 100 yards from the pond.
as well as this meadow brown and quite a few gatekeepers.
this shot - 2/3 exp comp sharpened otherwise as is
Comments please is this too dark or OK, I underexposed as the light was bright to try to bring out the colour. I am pleased how it came out nice contast too.

The two dragonfly shots are young but relatively mature females. They hold their yellow colouration longer than males. You can tell by the longitudinal black dashes down the abdomen and the short tail claspers. They are common darters as you say though; note the striped legs.
Shot 1 is spot on looking from my terminal, shot 2 is ok but shot 3, the meadow brown, although nicely taken and composed, is a bit flat and the levels could maybe be tweaked a little.
I should add that they are all good shots, and I'm being picky. :)

Hi Eccles thanks for the ID information :D
Thanks for the C&C on the shots too :D Not picky at all most helpful.
I will adjust the 3rd shot in levels to bring out the colour.
I was pleased to see quite a few Darters about, it's the first time for a while that I've seen dragonflies in numbers, normally I just see one or two if I'm lucky. Hopefully the weather will stay more settled and they can breed.
Pete

Hi Pete
Like the first two.
Agree with Eccles, the Meadow Brown needs a tweak to bring out the best of it.
