THank You all, you are not understanding the issue, your suggestions are fine but not what i need, what i need is the original eos viewer utility so once i install it I will then install the update, that is all i need, the canon site only has the update not the original. I will now lock the thread, there is no point in going on with it if you do not see what I am asking, Again thank you all. Edit. I cannot lock it, can a moderator please lock it

Kon Tiki,

The software does not like to share. If you have a scanner(other imaging device) connected to the computer. Turn it off. Reboot the computer. Launch the Eos Utility. Connect your camera via the USB cable. Turn the Camera on. Windows and Canon's software should now see the camera.

If I knew how to do what you suggest I would stop asking, I can handle my way around the registry well enough just do not know what or where to do that.

ok ... this is what you need to do:

1. open the registry and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE
2. look for the key called Canon, if you cant find it, create it. right click on \Software\, New Key, then type in Canon.
3. inside the Canon key, make three new subkeys called DPP, EOS Utility, and Zoom Browser Ex.

your registry should now look like the attached pic.

close registry, reboot. reinstall software .... Done! :)

All three of these appear in the registry already HKLM\Software\Canon\DPP
HKLM\Software\Canon\EOS Utility
HKLM\Software\Canon\Zoombrowser Ex

WHat has to change inside of them?

Have you rebooted? I hate to ask but its a necessary step in middle of this kind of stuff. When in doubt reboot?

That is exactly what I have that wont work that is no the viewer utility I have installed that several times already. There are two separate things an EOS utility and an EOS VIEWER UTILITY, the eos utility is not what i need.
