I got the shutter release from potn

I got the shutter release for my 20D/5D with a 25 foot extension cord. Yesterday I set my camera on the tripod aimed and focused at my hummingbird feeder, and ran the cord into the house. Now I can sit in the house out of sight, and take pictures of the birds at the feeder without scaring them, and without suffering the elements. In the winter it will be the other feeder and chickadees, and a multitude of other little critters. Also I can remove the 25 feed of extension cable and have a very normal remote for other photo activities. Thanks P.O.T.N. (This is not a paid advertisement)

Have you ever comapred the POTN version to the Canon version. I'm off on vacation next week and need one for fireworks.

I have both the Canon version and the POTN version, and a chinese ebay version. The Chinese version worked about 40 actuations and quit. The Canon veresion is very good, but short, about 3 feet long. I used the short one for fireworks on the fourth of july, it worked great. BUT I want to get out of sight of the birds, and the extendable one is great for that. It is very well made, as you might expect from POTN products. The POTN version can be 3 feet long (approximatley) or add in the 25 foot extension. I have the extension coiled up in a samwich bag in my carry case till I need it That keeps it neat and clean. Hope this helps

curious: wouldn't it just be possible to make your own extension cable for the RS60 E3 or buy one?

Yep I bought one, thats how I got it.

I haven't used the Canon one, but I heard that it has an option for a 2 second delay. Does the POTN remote have that same feature?

If you have anything other than the Digital Rebel family, Canon uses a different, proprietary, connector called the N3.

Ah, ok, thanks for clarifying.

The extension cord fits in the middle of the cord on the POTN release. The Canon release does not have the plug in adaptors in the middle of the cord, so no, the extension cord doesnt work with the Canon release.

Aniwho, I have a cheap ebay and been using it quite a bit. Works great I think for $10. And if I need something longer, I have my ebay wireless one. They both work great so far although I've only had them for several weeks. I have been doing a a lot of portraits of me and my girl though with the wireless and no trouble waht-so-ever.
