Hi
I've been given a tokina 28 -70 AF lens, and whilst the connecting 'thread' looks like Canon, I'm not going to risk trying it, in case it's Nikon or something.

Anyone know which connector type it is please??

Looks like EOS to me too. But it looks to be missing some contacts. Try it. It'll either fit or it won't. If it fits it'll either work or it won't.

The contacts are totally different.
Not going to risk it - I'll see what I get on here, else take it to local camera shop & let them take a look see.

I bet it's a Minolta. Check this out (scroll down a ways)

I think so too, I have an old Minolta lens that looks just like the photo.

I would think a quick email to Tokina, including the lens designation number and the lens serial number, would solve the issue without any doubt.

Good replies all round, and the prize goes to 20droger (mk111 - yea in ya dreams LOL).

I thought Nikon or minolta, but either ways it's of no use to me, so I'll probably put it on Ebay & add to my bargain £20 buy (this lens thrown in, Benbo 1 tripod, and Manfrotto head).

Think will Email Tokina, can't very well sell it if I don't know the mount, can I !!
cheers n thanks again

If it is anything like the original Minolta lens it isn't worth 20 bucks. Maxxum was the worst system I ever owned by a long shot.

It's definitely not EOS... if you hold an EOS lens up to the picture and rotate it so the locking recess is in the11 o' clock position like the photo, you'll see the lugs bayonet lugs are in the wrong positions, and the contacts on the EOS lens are at 7 and 8 o' clock.

Maxxum was the first comercially available auto-focus.
It did work soo much better than manual.
