In that second pic, I thought the fender was the drivers body for a second!

Hope he wasn't holding onto the steering wheel too tightly. One pic they are left, next, they're right!

Here's a few from an incident this last weekend. It's was my first time shooting motorsports, and I just switched from my 100-400 to my 135/2 in order to try panning shots at the apex of turn one when I heard the leaders coming down the front straight, making a different sort of sound than they usually do. I didn't even think to increase the shutter speed, so the shots aren't exactly high quality, but they're my "best crash shots" so far :D.

Both drivers were okay. These cars ("SRF"s (spec racer fords)) are, relatively speaking, tanks. The guy in the 51 car is a good friend who was, not an hour before, making fun of me for selling my SRF and buying a camera!

Here's one more from the series showing the driver on top still holding tight to the steering wheel (which, under the circumstances, is good way to break your thumbs).

Lucky capture there. :-) It will be worth doing a bit of work on those in Photoshop to see what you can do with the sharpness.
