Very nice but my 135 F2 easily compares with that (not with the range though)

A beautiful lens but I do not subscribe to the "Angel theory" about it and I have had one.

Often I have seen an almost mythical following to bits of glass and I do not find it healthy.

A good lens is just that, a good photographer is another thing entirely.

Give me the second any day and the groupies can have the glass.

My guess, and it's just that, is they will introduce a 200 f2, as Nikon has.

Au contraire, friend. I love following that mythical piece of glass, and I'm very healthy, thank you. Just passed my colonoscopy with flying colors. :D

Ahh, you are quite correct there. BUT: Busterboy is a very fine photographer, so he's lucky enough to possess both.

Now, on to my own response:

Buster, I hate you. You already caused me to spend a fortune (aw right, my wife bought it for me :) ) on the 300 f2.8. WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO DO TO ME?;):p

Oh, Busta, ssshhh, don't tell anyone, but the really perfect pairing would be to put that on my new Mark III.

Hiya Mark..:D

I would truly love to see it perform on your MkIII my friend.

If the ocean wasn't so big we could make this possible anytime you wish and that's the truth mate..;)

Unfortunately, they never will. In order to make the 200/1.8L (and the 50/1.0L), Canon had to use lead in the glass, and being a very environmentally friendly company Canon has since stopped producing such lenses. Canon might eventually make a 200/2L to go with the 50/1.2L, but never again will we see a 200/1.8.

Well, who knows. They can do a 400 F/2.8, and size wise that translates back to a 200 F/1.4, using the same size glass, and the 600 F/4 translates back to 200 F/1.3.

There were rumours last year they were showing a 200 F/1.7 to the military, even saw a pic of this event, but it could all be fake, of course.

Kind regards, Wim
