300ppi. Your question has no context which makes it hard to give you a useful answer.

In dpp I convert and save to a jpg so the files are not raw for the photo store I bring them to, I was worried about the files being huge and not fitting on 1 disc but I'm ok.

If your original file (after cropping, if it's cropped) has significantly more than 300 pixels per inch at your intended print size, then downsizing (resampling) is a good idea for these reasons:

1) Anything more than 300 ppi is overkill. Even if printers could take advantage of that detail, the human eye couldn't see it at normal viewing distance.
2) it reduces the file size, saving space on the drive or CD and improving upload time (if you're uploading to an online lab).
3) If it's a high ISO shot, downsizing reduces digital noise dramatically.
4) Having a uniform print resolution allows using the same sharpening settings for every file. Sharpening can be done in batches, which saves time. And since you have already removed the noise, you can now sharpen without sharpening the noise.

First of all find out what the lab you are dealing with recommends. If doing custom work many labs prefer to work with the original file before you have done any re-sizing and sharpening. They also have RIP programs that may do a superior job of preparing the photo for the printer.

If the lab does not do custom printing you should find out what equipment they are using. Most printers use a 300 dpi file, but Epson uses 360 dpi. The lab should be able to tell you what works best with their equipment. If they don't know you should consider using a different lab.

I'm not touching dpi at all, or ppi, just the size of the photos. But even then I'm not, just converting them. From my understanding they might be doing them from like a home computer unless they send them out, either way I'm getting back good prints from them. I'll ask them though.
