in the bath

first Springtail i've found indoors. My sciatica would not have welcomed me bending over to photograph it so I used the live view lcd facility to snap it at arm's length. I only wish the lamp on the ringflash didnt go off after20 secs.
about 2.5mm. mpe65 at x3, cropped. Possibly a new one to me which would be my 25th species

he couldnt get out for all his mighty leaps when I disturbed him - evetually landed on my arm and was rescued. Shot was taken while he was on the move so quite pleased.

Excellent capture RM- does look diff to the normal Entombrya

As the name suggests and as you found out, this is one of those Collembola species that enter our houses and can cause a kind of domestic infestation. The body of this species is covered with scales. This can be observed clearly in this picture. Those scales are detached easily and become airborne in the in-house airflows because they are so small. Note that some people are allergic to these scales when inhaled or get in touch with their skin. Be aware! There is no cause to be alarmed, though.Seira domestica is harmless otherwise.

Nice find RM tiny creature like that aren't good for the back, hope you get a quick recovery, I do feel for you as I get a bit of back problem also from time to time with a spondylothesis due to a broken vertebrae on lumber 1. I snapped a part of the bone known as Superior articular process and Transverse process which now causes slippage between the vertebrae
