This is my little guy at the Harry Potter book release day. It was loads of fun. The store had the staff do all the activities, including taking the Polaroids to put into frames. The flash was horrible in that lighting, and I only brought my 24-70 on the 5D. I had my flash, but the bounce of the poster was ridiculous. So, I opened up the aperture, stood as steady as I could and came out with these two pictures. I love this combo.

So, what did you do to celebrate the end of Harry Potter?

Thanks. He didn't get the lightning scar until we were ready to leave. It got very crowded after 8 p.m. People were lining up already for the midnight release. We didn't stay because I ordered my copy from Amazon to be delivered in the morning.

Thank you. Let me just explain the second shot. Those were the pose the staff had prepared for the party. I thought it a little boring myself. But with the Polaroid, the poster bounced back and you couldn't really see the middle of it. And the white balance was way off for every shot even with flash, so I was happy I brought my camera. That first on is the one I put in the frame he made that night.

Thanks! Yes, he has the most beautiful eyes that turn green at times. And he is quite a character himself. He's going to be the first man on Mars, he says. But I don't want him to go yet. I want him to stay little. He is my youngest and I don't ever go a day without kissing him about 100 times. :) Keep them little, or else they don't like to have Mommy hugging and kissing them. And the only reason why we went to the party is precisely that, Kathy. It was a once in a lifetime thing. The last of the books and people were so excited. I wish I had consulted with the staff, though. Their photographer/staff member was awful. She didn't know how to compose or take a picture Oh well. My shots came out terrific and that first shot was not planned. He's just that way. :)

Here's the B&W conversion I did:

I'm putting up B&W portraits in frames today. Added this one in 5x5.
