The picture of Californian was taken after her purchase by the San Diego Maritime Museum and her 2003 overhaul. She completely stripped down and virtually rebuilt. Prior to the overhaul, the mainsail was loose-footed. Now it has a boom. She was also repainted to more resemble an 1840's period revenue cutter. Granted, she does look a little like Amistad. Interesting you should mention that vessel. Amistad was built in 1999-2000, perhaps as a result of the 1997 Steven Spielberg film. In the movie, the Amistad was actually portrayed by Californian. well how bout that,i didn't realize amistad is so new. Lynx is an interpretation of a privateer from the war of 1812 era. Nathan
