As I promised Alby, here is just the one shot of my robber fly I took on Sunday.

It was on the wooden garden table and I could see it had a very small fly, so I gently perched myself on the edge of the nearest chair and intended to get a few shots at different angles.

I realised my ankles were not covered up, and not wanting a repeat horsefly bite as it was close to the area one got me in September, decided to stick my feet out  ............. took one shot and promptly tipped the chair, arms flailed up in the air and the robber fly, quite rightly, flew off   not exactly the way to take macro shots lol

Hehe.. Funny story.

They usually get me squealing like a little girl when they fly at me suddenly (they don't half look big through a macro lens!)

Yeah, I can laugh now, but I could kick myself for being so stupid lol. If it had flown at me, I would have squeeled to LOL LOL.

Haha, I see what you mean Linda about taking an almost identical shot. It's rather neat the way they lay down to eat their prey, my one is exactly the same.

Good shot Linda. I thought it was only me who fell over while attempting pictures. Comforting to know it happens to others. I hope there weren't any witnesses...

one got me in September

Lucky you. I get them quite often after a shower or in humid weather, usually settling unobtrusively on my hand as I'm lining up a shot. I only notice them when I feel the sharp bite.
Re-the robber fly, good shot considering the comical circumstances. :D It looks nastier than a horsefly but I would guess it doesn't bother people?
