Hi Bill and welcome :D

Good luck with that backpack! Lets hope it will be 50 pounds of camera gear you'll be carrying around instead!

Hi,

My name is Bill and I have an invisible backpack that is always with me. I used to be able to go backpacking with a 50 pound pack on my back (visible type) -- in a way, I still do except that the pack is missing, but the 50 pounds are still there. My aim is to transfer those 50 pounds back to the pack so that I can carry it around only when i really need to do so.

hi bill - that sounds like me except sadly it IS visible - its as if ive climbed INSIDE the pack LOL...

so if yours is invisible you're very lucky

Maxy - maybe the second chart can start with 01 Jan? I haven't been paying any attention to anything the past week or so - too busy - haven't even been on the scale, but am guessing no change LOL

Hope everyone has had wonderful festive seasons and is ready for a glorious 2008 - I know I am!!

OK... I can now confess that I too have been laying low the last couple of weeks because while not gaining any weight, I have been lax in my eating habits and workout. The holidays are partly to blame but, in all honesty, once you let up, it's hard to get back into a good routine. I have taken steps this week to ensure just that. I signed the family up to the "Y" and plan on attending at least 3 times a week. Walking on a treadmill in ambient temperature is better than walking on icy sidewalks in 18 degree weather. I'm glad we have this group where we can bare our soul and everyone is really supportive.
Cat, Athena, hang in there! It's a new year with a clean slate;)

i've been doing alot better lately even tho i stopped walking due to not being able to take the kid out in the cold long enough to walk 3 miles. im now down to 293lb i've changed my goal to a realistic 275 for now. i have a feeling that i'll be close to that by march so i can get re-evaluate my goals and hopefully by this time next year be down to 250lb. im also in a photographic slump right now, upgraded to a 20d and a week later i just couldnt seem to make it out of the house due to all the things i need to do everyday between daddy duty, and cleaning up while my girl is at work. hoping to get a couple new lenses and a flash by spring so i can get back into it this spring. just getting out of the house again should help a ton but i think i was walking and lifting too much last time when i was following the thread and was actually building muscle instead of loosing weight, i have a big frame so i couldnt really see the extra muscle just feel it and see my weight staying the same. anyway enough rambling for now

Nothing to see here....

Cat, I'm in the same boat...one of the ones who really wanted this thread and one who's done horrid on my diet. I'm still checking in though and still trying to press forward.

To everyone who's done well, I'm really happy for you and like to read of your successes because it is encouraging to see that it IS possible, no matter how difficult it seems.

Cat and Lisa, hang on in there. It is possible and I'm finding that just the simple act of being honest about my weigh-ins in front of this group is helping to focus my mind but I realise other people need different keys.

Athena, Sorry to hear your weight has gone up. However, I don't think you will be the only one that has happened to over the holiday period ;)

Maxy Update - Somehow I have managed to reverse the trend - I am actually 2lbs DOWN from my last reported weigh in. Not sure how I did it - it must be something to do with the theory of eating frequently to stop the body storing energy

Hi all! Life has been horribly hectic the past few weeks but I finally managed to get to the Y for a workout and a weigh-in yesterday. I'll do a more proper catch-up post next week when things settle down a bit more. I've been thinking about all of you!

MAX I'm down 2.5 pounds. :)

I haven't been keeping track or keeping on track lately LOL

BUT my beautiful doggie, Dora, is DOWN two kilos since 20 December, so that's a good thing! Sorry for the devil eyes - I'm using my Canon 570 compact and the flash sucks
