Kristin, your dog is gorgeous! And congrats on her weight loss :D :D

I'm hanging in there, but I don't have the fortitude to get on the scale.
I'm avoiding it.

Congrats to all of you who are sticking to your guns, and those of you who have lost weight. I'm proud of you. (I don't mean that to sound condescending)
I'm sorry I haven't been participating. I promise to start joining in again. :D

Well, I didn't do too much yesterday but did have an energetic family shoot with ten people that took me up and over the rocks, along the beach, down the sandy slopes and back in a big circle for an hour and half while lugging gear, so I'm counting it!

Here's my daily pic - let's see 'em, guys!!

Hello???? Anyone home? LOL

Yesterday was too hot and windy here to go to the beach so I cranked up the air-con and hit the elliptical machine for a bit. haven't done that in ages! Afterwards I went outside to play with the dogs and do my cool down. So my photo of the day is a happy snap (I know it's not really in great focus LOL) of MatildaLily catching her breath after a game of chasey:

wow, this post is a good one, at least i think it is!
i dont do new years resolutions, i have been going to the gym for many years and i know that the first week of January its packed, and by the time February comes along its back to the normal amount of users. this is not to say that i have been going consistently. as you can probably see from my avatar, i am a fatty. woohoo, however last year i lost 25lbs or so. i keep it off for most of the year, and then i had some work issues, where i was working 100 hrs a week, and the stress and everything got to me and i put it all back on, i was back up to 286, and i am only 5'7. however,
i decided that in december i would start going back to the gym even if i had to work so much. it was mabye 3 times a week. this was a good decision, because now i have lessened my hours at work, and i have less stress and all the other factors that add up. i for the past 3 weeks i have been going 2 times a day 4 days a week, and one time 2 days. (dont want to over do it) lol.
however activity is usually not my problem. i am an avid hiker and i enjoy snowshoeing, and cc skiing. the first of the year i was out snowshoeing for 6 hrs. i know i am not some pillar of health, however i am in ok enough shape to zoom out for 6 hrs with a 40 lbs pack on my back.
my problem is over eating.... i LOVE food, and i eat out of boredom. and ice cream is the devil for me. so in the past 10 days or so, i have cut down what i eat, to 2 oranges, and one banana a day, with what ever we have for dinner, i just cut down on my portion sizes. i some times very what i am having for breakfast, i might have a yogurt, or a granola bar. but its about the same as an orange. most importantly i have stopped eating out so much.
so now here i am i have progressed from sleeping way too much, and eating whatever when ever i want, and not getting hardly any exercise, to only napping one or two times a week, (who dont love a nap), eating sinceablely, and exercising 6 days a week, with one day off. and the stress levels in my life are greatly reduced.
i agree that our health has allot do do with our photography, especially for the nature photographers. i live near glacier park, and some summers i drag ass trying to get to some of the places. i have made some progression i dont care too much about my weight, i am more worried about my health, i want to be healthy, not look good for others. if people dont like me because i am fat, or even out of shape, then they are the kind of people i dont want to be friends with. but, i know that if i lost 50 lbs, i would be more efficient on the trail and be able to function better once i arrived at a photo opportunity.
i have not read the majority of the posts in this post, so if it changed topics, i am sorry, but it started off like this, so... there is my spew about my health issues,
with that said, i think that when people go to loose weight or become healthy, they shouldnt look at a diet, or some fad that is sweeping the nation at that time (adkins for example) they should look at life style changes, that is the way to loose weight. change the way you live,

i think one of the biggest problems for me is that i havent always been fat, i was a chubby child, but i went into the marine corps, and spent 4 years there where i weighed just under 170, we ran near everyday. while in the marines i ran 2 marathons, did a program where i had to swim a mile, and was in overall great shape. now i cant run hardly at all... i know when i gained so much weight, but i dont know why. i was in a car accident, and hurt my shoulder. within 4 months i had gained 70 lbs. and then the rest just kind of added on year after year.

oh yeah, i am down about 15 lbs from december when i first started. so i think thats i am ok with 15lbs in 6 weeks, its more than i thought i would loose but i am pushing my self hard at the gym, and eating much better.

Sorry for the short post.. time is lacking at the moment.

Webejamn - Welcome :D Thanks for sharing your story

Max - I have gained a pound back. :( Time to re-focus now. It doesn't help that we've had some biscuits come in as samples that needed to be tested ;)

ok MAX - im down another 1/2 kilo today, making it a total loss of 5kg from my fattest ever... but i think i had already lost 3 when i started on here so its 2 off my potn total

i have discovered the secret (or am in denial LOL) of wanting to eat something ridiculous but not wanting to start gaining again - make sure you eat it all in one day and then go straight back to your healthy food the next day! you cant do it very often, but i did eat most of a small mock-cream chocolate sponge cake late last week (well, it would have gone stale!) and still lost a little weight

Hey All, Max I'm down 2.8 pounds this week :D

I'm half a kilo off my 20 kilo milestone and not far off my goal now, there's light at the end of the tunnel for me!

I've been measuring myself as well and on my chest and hips I've lost on average 22cm (9 inches) off both, 15cm (6inches) off my waist and about 10cm (4inches) off my arms and legs.

I was a size 16 (oh the shame  ) and am now a 10 (american size 6). :D

Pretty pleased with my efforts and I'll see how I go with another 5 kilos lost and see if I'm happy with that, or maybe aim for another 5 kilos after that!

I do the same thing, each week I have 1 treat day where I'm not as strict with myself. I might have a creamy pasta for dinner and ice cream, or just whatever I've been craving throug out the week.

I find that really helps me because I'm not left always wanting bad food, if I get it out of my system one day a week then I'm all good for the rest of the week and I still loose on average a kilo a week.

So I wouldn't feel too guilty about it because we need these things every now and then and I reckon (at least for me) it's the secret to long term success!
