I have all these good intentions but no momentum to back them.

I'm in the same boat too :(

My husband and i just moved 2000ks south and in the move didn't eat as good as I should have. I'm just waiting till I get paid so I can join the gym again and get back on track, which I really need to do, i'm only 20pounds away from my goal, so close but yet so far.....

I just found this section of the boards a couple days ago (have mainly been keeping in the Sharing section) and I am so glad I did!

I'm on track to losing weight, but I'm going at it a bit differently than I have noticed many others are. I have stopped focusing on a number, per se, and I have been focusing on my body. Shape, size, feel. I am losing inches, that is the only number I track that holds any value to me (aside from my pant size).

I have a lot of clothes from when I was still healthier, so they are my check in system. I am already having to put some of my "fat clothes" away and pull out some of my older clothes (some still with price tags).

I have a gym membership, but rarely go. I'm working on making that a daily priority (shooting for 5 days a week). I mainly run in the pool (better on your joints so you don't notice how hard you're really working), but also do some weight training when there. I have also used another idea to kick my butt into gear. I joined the local roller derby league. Now if that's not a motivator to get into shape, I don't know what would help me.

Ultimately, I'd like to look and FEEL healthier. I want to be able to remain active, hike longer before getting winded, run around with my niece until SHE needs a break first, and be able to give my children the best start possible when we do decide to have kids. In the end, I've probably got about... oh... 40 - 50 lbs of fat to lose, but like I said, that's not going to be the number I focus on as I will also be gaining/toning muscle while trying to "lose weight"

Hi Jet, and welcome! As you can see, I think some of us are in a bit of a slump. Maybe some new blood will perk us up, eh? ;)

Well, if I think about it too hard, I would say I've been in a slump for about... oh... 4 or 5 years, off and on.

Knee and back injuries suck, to say the least, but working on gaining control over them.

I've also fairly mastered the task of NOT overeating, which was probably the biggest thing for me. Now I either order 1/2 orders, or order it with half to go (if they wont make the smaller order). I've been doing well, my husband is already commenting on my diminishing roundness around my middle (i carry about 90% of my excess weight there).

thanks. i'm actually being brave about it this time and having my husband take photos of me once every month or two to get a real perspective about what is going on.

i made him start over, cause the last time i had him do it was dec. of '06. (yeah, i was slackin')

i can see a little change, and i'm currently about 4" down, but right now it's at a standstill. i need to get to the gym and to roller derby practices more frequently.

i'll definitely keep updated. :)

Well I broke down and got on the scale today........ fortunately I am down one more pound.....even after all that pizza and pasta I ate for 2 weeks!!!

If anyone is interested, there are pictures of me and my sisters taking a cooking class in Tuscany on the website where I booked the class. They asked me if I had some photos they could use and they posted all the ones I sent them.:)

Welcome Jet, and well done on the loss, Mo.

Will, it feels like ages since I last checked in here. I haven't moved much so I still have 15lbs to go to my first target weight. One good thing though, my wife has started losing weight too (she's using Weightwatchers) and is doing great. At least we're able to support each other with this :D
