Morning all. Just got back from 4 days hking in the mountains and camping underneath the stars. Although I ate a few Cheetos and two S'mores during the trip, I climbed boulders with my grandson and hiked hills everyday. I came home 1 lb. lighter and just thankful I didn't gain anything. There was a ton of tempting food but I stuck with the scrambled eggs, steak and lot's of fruit and salads.

Life is hard...but I just take it one photograph at a time.

I get to skip the gym.

I just spent an hour with my daughter at her new highschool, searching out all her classes and mapping them. 2 stories. up and down up and down up and down.

I'm good for the day.

Thanks for the comments everyone, I just weighed myself after lunch and I've lost 2lbs thus far - please update the scoreboard. As long as I'm in the negative week to week I'll stay motivated. Subway tonight!

This week we are having our kitchen floor torn out and re-tiled. The entire kitchen is off limits and all the appliances are out in the garage. That mean fast food until Friday or Saturday...... Subway's light menu will probably be my daily pitstop.

One fast meal I often get is go to Wendy's and order a garden salad and a grilled chicken sandwich. Use only a part of the dressing, throw the bun away and cut the chicken up to put on the salad. Not real sure how healthy it really is, but seems ok to me.

Sounds like a blessing on many parts Maureen. I love the 6 grams of fat menu, I order a 12" roasted chicken on wheat, extra lettuce, provolone and light mayo and split that over two dinners.

And that sounds good Jim, I love Wendy's grilled chicken sandwiches and I wouldn't feel like a weirdo ordering it without bread with a salad. Their Taco Salad is good too, just be easy on the sour cream.

Nice pic, Kristen! I have not been on a photo-walk in a few days. Life is hectic sometimes.
Terri, glad you have bounced back!

I only ate peaches for supper last night, to balance out the chicken I ate for lunch. I was going to be good today, but it was really late when I went to lunch, and we went to Pizza Hut.... supreme personal pan pizza, bread sticks, molten brownie sundae... however, I did not eat all the breadsticks or all the sundae. Hey, there was a cherry on the sundae, that is fruit, right? Since lunch was at 3pm I won't be hungry for supper and if I eat oatmeal for breakfast, maybe it will all average out, lol. And I'll mow the grass this evening which will burn quite a few calories. I hope. :p Weigh-in tomorrow.

Since I bought a scale my two children have weighed themselves approximately 10 times daily. Of course they are usually holding various objects for 9 of those weigh ins.

LOL

On a bad note, our office manager at work brought Donuts to work this morning. I have not eaten any, but man it is tough to resist.

I find it nearly impossible to avoid donuts, too. Especially from Dunkin' Donuts!

OK! Starting in earnest this morning. I hid the "Haagen Daz Reserve" chocolate & pomegranate bars, put the dark chocolate peanut M&M's up high on a shelf and had a brisk 30 minute walk this morning with my dog Sam (or should I say, he walked me...that's what made it brisk!) I will now have a banana and a yougurt for breakfast and take some grapes and a couple of bottles of water with me in the car for work as I'm out in the field today. I plan on stopping for lunch at Panera and having a salad without the chicken and with a low fat vinagrette and an apple as a side. I have to stay away from bread; that and chocolate are my biggest weaknesses. I guess the trick will be to eat enough so that I'm not starving at dinnertime (grilled boneless & skinless chicken I'm guessing). I'm happy to see that some of you are making progress and that even the few of you that have struggled the last few days are honest with themselves and resolute in maintaining their goals. Keep on everyone!!:D

wow, great start!

Ooh!
For anyone like me, who has troubles getting the recommended amount of veggies, a small can of low sodium V-8 counts as one serving. Low calorie and tastes pretty good! Also seems to still the munchie beast.

Thanks for reminding me of that! I do have trouble getting my veggies in. Fruits are easy, but veggies take some planning. I like veggies, but not cooking, lol

Now we just need to drag Max from the title thread so he can do updates. :D:rolleyes:

Lots of action here :)

Mike & Cat - tried pilates or yoga? I used to have terrible back pain that would radiate to my neck and all arm joints; it was debilitating. I started doing some yoga and it was incredible how fast things came good. I just did a little bit and didn't push myself too hard, but it only tooks a couple of weeks to get relief. The yoga instructor left town, so I bought the Windsor pilates dvd and it keeps me where I needed to be. It's that core strength I lack that when I start to build really helps. Just a thought.

You should have a light breakfast before you head out on your morning walk. It kick starts your metabolism and gets it running for when you walk.

I've heard this but I've also heard that if you do some exercise before you eat you force your body to use stored calories. This not only uses what would otherwise just hang around, but also gives your body the metabolic kickstart it needs each day. Not sure which is "correct" - or maybe they both are! I do both and let how I feel dictate what I do on any given day. Is one better than the other - what does everyone think?

John - surfer is awesome :) I've been hitting our local surf beach but haven't been able to get anything like that :( What lens, if I may? I'm using an ancient 100-300 and it's just not up to the task really - come November I'll own the 100-400 which hopefully will give me some more help!

put me down for x lbs lost

- Way to go, Everyone !!! A pound or so in a week is a great result, I think - I'd be happy!

Thanks for the kind word on my photos - it's kinda fun to add to my walks during the day, though sometimes I have a hard time choosing a shot (not that they are all great, but I tend to shoot a whole bunch of different things LOL).

Here's the south end of the surf beach, where the rocks start - everything north is soft beautiful sand. Yesterday a front came in and made everything slop so there wasn't much surfing action.

IMAGE: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v230/alcina/land%20and%20stuff/LHBw1.jpg

Yesterday was a bit of a slow day for me - I only did two 10/15 minute brisk walks, a short walk through the dunes and sand on the surf beach and two short 5 minute bursts on the elliptical machine. Food and drink-wise all was good with a nice breakfast, a huge salad for lunch and tons of veggies with some chicken for dinner. The yellow zucchini has just come into the store here and I adore it!

This afternoon I took a page out of Kristin's book and took a 1 & 1/2 mile walk, although mine was fairly leisurely. It was very relaxing, especially clearing my head. I took my camera and 100-400mmL along and wound up snapping 100 or so frames. This creates a dilemma for me...I could easily spend 3 or 4 hours playing with and posting the images. What I will do is play with about 10 tonight (about 45 minutes or so) and maybe another 5 tomorrow morning before I walk Sam. Here's a couple of selected shots taken as I walked by a doggie beach...
