Oh man! I'm glad I've just had my lunch or I'd be really drooling! I adore that stuff :D :D

I can't wait to hit the US in November coz I'm gonna eat all the goodies I can't get here: birthday cake, real pizza with extra spicy sausage, cheesy breadsticks, prime rib, Barq's root beer, a real cheeseburger, pecan pie...

GAAA! STOP IT!!!    :p

Thanks Cat, some call it my Ninja Avatar, but I did not mean it so. I just wanted a color, and white was too.... mmmh, insecure. Red weird, black worked. I should probably try the neutral gray bar the forums have, that way only my eyes show. Who knows, I am so bad at that. I could pick anyone an avatar, but myself. :)

And hey kja, yummy foods belong on the G&N Part of the Forum ;)

LOL

G&N?

I know I'm baaad for looking forward to that so much, but I do it every time I go back. Thankfully I am active enough while home that my weight and waist don't generally fluctuate much over these few weeks! If only I could be that active in my "real" life...but then I'd be exhausted all the time...takes me days to recover from holiday ;)

I spent a few weeks in LaVerkin, Utah... I think it was pretty close to St George UT.
Where you be, Cat ?

Mike, I suffer from back pain and have been seeing a Chiropractor for about 2 years. (Don't tell my hubby, lol )
Working out really really does help. When I started going to the gym regularly, my visits to the chiro were cut in half. If your wife has seen a chiro, tell her to ask him which exercises are best for her... my doc gave me specific machines to avoid, and specific ones to use to strengthen the muscles holding my 'problem areas' of my back. The stronger those muscles get, the less I have to worry about a rib slipping loose, or a vertebrae moving.

So my gym time consists of 15 minutes cardio, 30 minutes strength training, 15 minutes easy cardio (cooldown).

Maxy, I weighed this morning ... put me down for 1 pound lost.

Thanks for the advice Cat and congrats on the 1 pound loss.

She doesn't go to a chiropractor. The pain is likely associated from the birth of our daughter and the fact that she now has a desk job. But hopefully some exercise can help. We went for a walk last night, but when our daughter goes for a walk I don't know that you can call it exercise.

Mike: Sounds like you at least broke even over the weekend. I think being aware of what is going in ones body is half the battle.

I hope so.

I find it nearly impossible to avoid donuts, too. Especially from Dunkin' Donuts!

And they were. I had 3 over the course of the day. :o I didn't get to take a lunch so I had to eat what was available at work.

Mike & Cat - tried pilates or yoga? I used to have terrible back pain that would radiate to my neck and all arm joints; it was debilitating. I started doing some yoga and it was incredible how fast things came good. I just did a little bit and didn't push myself too hard, but it only tooks a couple of weeks to get relief. The yoga instructor left town, so I bought the Windsor pilates dvd and it keeps me where I needed to be. It's that core strength I lack that when I start to build really helps. Just a thought.

I've heard this but I've also heard that if you do some exercise before you eat you force your body to use stored calories. This not only uses what would otherwise just hang around, but also gives your body the metabolic kickstart it needs each day. Not sure which is "correct" - or maybe they both are! I do both and let how I feel dictate what I do on any given day. Is one better than the other - what does everyone think?

She has tried Yoga, but not enough for it to make a difference yet.

Congrats to those that are out getting exercise and taking photos! I also have the problem of not getting very far on the walk when I get into shooting, but when I shoot bugs I figure the deep knee bends and contorted positions count as exercise.

Luckily I was not hungry last night after my Pizza Hut lunch-binge (even though it took me two hours to mow the lawn) and surprisingly I was not hungry this morning either. So I had a 70 calorie mixed fruit cup for breakfast. If I can eat light all day it should average out the extra 500 or so calories I ate yesterday. :)

Today is work out day and weigh day. And I may also be able to schedule a short walk after lunch, camera in tow. (if it doesn't rain)

Last night was my first night home to have a meal and my sister and her family came to stay for 2 days. We went to an Italian place by our house and I ordered the Chicken Florentine, which could have fed 3 people. I ate less than half of my dinner and saved the rest for lunch today. I figure eating 1/2 of what is given is the least I can do to start losing the 5-7 pounds I gained since my son told me he was getting married. Nervous eating is my biggest downfall for weightloss, but as of today, I am on a mission to lose 30 pounds before going to Hawaii in 2 years. I think I can do it if I start now. :)

Congrats to everyone since I've been away who've been good and lost weight. I am starting my exercising again and trying to be on the bike or treadmill or elliptical or walk 20 minutes everyday.

Sorry, I skeedaddled off to bed last night before I saw this. ;)

I'm in St George. LaVerkin is one of our 'outskirts' towns. (Why would anyone spend a few weeks in LaVerkin?? :p) We've been in St George for about 13 years. LOVE it here.

Suzy, how was your son's wedding? Will you be sharing pics in the wedding forum? I'm curious to see how the cardboard cutout worked for you. ;)

Love St. George. Did some driving around watching folk hunt in private property in and around Zion's Park, and tracking wounded animals. (This one time, these two Californians -I know- came out with Semi-Autos, and we drove them on the back of the truck. They yelled Stop, so we did. I was passenger. They opened up like we was in Fallujah or something, they literally expended about 50 rounds of ammunition combined. Long story short, they got pi$$ed that the animal did not drop dead, so they requested to be driven back. Driver took off and I tracked the wounded animal for hours, trying to find it. It was not fun, I got help a couple hours later, and at 11pm we gave it up. They just played target shooting, and left the poor animal to die somewhere. I did not do this for much longer, just wasn't my thing).

Sorry for the Loop, we're back to the regularly scheduled thread. I am going to be moving a lot the following days, and I am not even sure how to eat healthy. It's hot out there, and the fasting for a day or two will be impossible. Fast food would kill me just as quickly. So I am not sure what I will do, probably scrounge some food as I go along (Media events always have refreshments, sugar laden treats, and carbohydrates). :)

Congrats Mike :D

Good luck Suzy :D

Cat: I was prepared to throw myself on the cheesy bread to save you, but looks like Mario would have beat me to it :)

I did well yesterday. Two 20-30 minute walks (I am getting hooked, this is a good thing!) Ate well for breakfast and lunch, had a little trouble with dinner  at my aunts house. Meatloaf. Mashed potatoes. THANK GOODNESS there was no gravy  and salad. I filled half of my plate with salad, and balanced the rest between meatloaf and potatoes. I think I came out of it fairly safe.

Starting today with Cheerios and strawberries :)

Another fast food tip:

McDonalds Classic Grilled Chicken Sandwich. Request mustard instead of mayo. Also the apple and walnut salad is very tasty and satisfies a sweet tooth.

I have become addicted to my daily salad.

Leafy greens, chopped green apple, chopped almonds, chopped celery, dried cranberries, and a balsamic vinegarette dressing. MMMMmmmmmmm. I look forward to lunch.
