I just received my new 500 MM f/4.0 IS. I do not post ususally when I pick up new gear, however, in this case, OMG. I almost had a heart attack when I took it out of the packing box, then out of the Canon box, and then out of the gray "make up" box with 500 written on the side, and not from the exertion either, but from the pure excitment. WOW! My baby 300 mm f/2.8 IS is now going to be just a tad jealous.

Enjoy, it's a great lens! Post some images taken with it when you can.

This forum seems to be turning increasingly into a buy&sell advisory board.

Greetings,
Good observations. My 500 is gathering dust due to weather. It was first haze caused by neighboring country's forest fire, now, it rains almost everyday. So have to do studio sessions now. Anyway, will bring out this weekend for regional motor racing. As for dfindr, this is an awesome lens and it dwarfs your 300. Enjoy...

5DII and a few L lenses.

Good luck with your new lens. You may find, like I did, that you will still use that 300 f/2.8 quite a bit. It is easier to hand hold, lug around and takes a slightly better image both with the 1/4 and 2X TCs and without.

Yes Absolutely, in search of a DUCK!. Its monsoon season here in Tucson, perhaps a little trip to Reid Park in the next couple of days.
