canon 28-135 IS USM used for $300 also he says he has a new one for $350 I wanted to buy a tamron 28-75 or sigma 17-70 do you think I should go for this? or should wait for another opportunity the get the tamron or sigma

P.D. I'm starting in photography and don't have experience that's why I came here for your help I only have rebel XTI and the canon 50mm 1.8 thanks...

I bought the same lens for my wife to use as a walkabout/do-it-all.
Can't complain about the quality it produces and has better reach than the 28-75...useful if you only have a 50 at the moment.
Build quality looks good and the IS works a treat.....I say go for it.

I think $300 is a good price for that lens. I usually see used ones went for around $325-350.

I saw one on craigslist for $300 with filter, CPL, hood, etc...

28-135mm IS for $300 used is a good deal, or $350 brand new.

I bought mine around a month ago for $450CAD, which works out to be around $415USD.

what are you looking for in the lens? if most outdoors and reach, then perhaps the 28-135IS. but i think the sigma 17-70 or tamron 28-75SP easily outperform the canon in terms of image quality.

personally, i'd get the 28-75SP.

Thanks for your opinion;
I'm looking for something that will help me in weddings also portrait i don't have to much budget thats why it called my attention also I considered the fact of the canon IS because when I'm in a wedding (in the church) most pics are hand held and i don't yet develop a steady hand to tell the truth I like more the sigma or tamron but I'm considering the canon just for the IS capabilities.
Thanks for your reply. I'm just starting and I'm doing a lot of research. your opinion helps me a lot...
