It will be released in Japan on August 29th. Details here (external link).

Special site (external link) for this lens only.

Knowing it's a marketing tool, I still think the Try VC section of this site is pretty neat.

Just wish they had a MSRP. Not sure if I can wait until August 29th.

Nice link. Tamron has done a nice job marketing their first stabilized lens. Their website is great. This new lens should do well selling globally, being usable for all formats.

If it was a digital only lens, the 28mm wide end would effectively kill its sales. Because it's a full frame lens, 28mm is acceptably wide for some people. Sigma's 18-200 DC OS is a good travel lens for crop body, this one might be for folks with FF body but don't want to lug around heavier lenses on vacation.
