Crater Lake Sunrise

These were taken just a few weeks ago during a purple sky sunrise at Crater Lake, Oregon. The mosquitos were so aggressive, I had to keep all skin covered, or within 3 seconds even just my finger adjusting the dial would have at least a dozen attached. They almost overwhelmed me! Thank the maker for dust-spot correction!

OH.. and just as a disclaimer... no color correction was performed on the PP of these images.

#1 and #2 have the most potential but they're all generally too dark and too soft.

Also, I feel like the shadows in the last two are a big let down.

Beautiful sunrise colours but I think you need to invest in a better tripod my friend as these are suffering from camera shake Was it very windy?

I think the softness comes from the vibrations I caused from waving off all the mosquitos. It sounds silly, but I'm almost sure that was the cause. My tripod is solid (Manfrotto 3021 BPRO w/ 322RC2 head), but standing still was like asking the mosquitos to feast on my face.

I think the best investment I can make for the next time I hit up some Crater Lake sunrise shots is a bug screen for my face!
