These were taken just a few weeks ago during a purple sky sunrise at Crater Lake, Oregon. The mosquitos were so aggressive, I had to keep all skin covered, or within 3 seconds even just my finger adjusting the dial would have at least a dozen attached. They almost overwhelmed me! Thank the maker for dust-spot correction!

OH.. and just as a disclaimer... no color correction was performed on the PP of these images.

#1 and #2 have the most potential but they're all generally too dark and too soft.

Also, I feel like the shadows in the last two are a big let down.

Beautiful sunrise colours but I think you need to invest in a better tripod my friend as these are suffering from camera shake :( Was it very windy?

Technical perfection is only ever important if it improves the asthetic. It is not the precursor to beauty. Not in art..not in music and not in photography!

Yeah, looks like you were half an hour or so late.

I like #5 best. :)

I think the softness comes from the vibrations I caused from waving off all the mosquitos. It sounds silly, but I'm almost sure that was the cause. My tripod is solid (Manfrotto 3021 BPRO w/ 322RC2 head), but standing still was like asking the mosquitos to feast on my face.

I think the best investment I can make for the next time I hit up some Crater Lake sunrise shots is a bug screen for my face!

Thanks for the C&C everyone, live and learn I guess! Now when is my next trip down?
