300mm 2.8 for birding?

I have used the 300 2.8 for pics of larger waterbirds and raptors with some success. I can't afford the 500 or 600 either.

No, you cannot do it.... And you never want to stack converters.... ever.... This is very important to remember.. never do this when you are handholding/resting on a car door with a 4 year old moving in the car, manually focusing, with an old D60... do not do it!!!!

:lol: Eric, I know that you have a pretty steady hand....however, resting the rig on the car door ? That's Liquidstone's idea of handholding.;)

BTW, other than the framing, that's one fine, sharp and clear shot.

I am also a firm believer into that saying that proximity beats FL.
When I say that, l always think of our pal Liv2trip who still shoots (very nicely too) with his 200 f/2.8 prime.
