not prefocused on flower this time but chased with camera on monopod. Sorry they all turned away.

Great series I like the BIF shots, but I think you have got some superb detail on the sparrow :D

I believe you are right as the foraging behaviour noted on the RSPB site describes it perfectly. I have to admit I had not heard of this species :o

The bird is definately a Dunnock - Dunnock's have the pointed beak as they are primarily insect feeders and the sparrow's beak is more stubby as a seed feeder. The often hang around with sparrows, I have a group of them in my garden, pretty little birds and have a beautiful song. Wonderful shot of it too.

PS: RM - can I ask a small favour of you and your Hoverfly book, until I get one soon. Could you take a look at this and see if the ID in your book looks correct as Melanostoma Scalare, please. Would be very grateful if you could when you get a minute. Thanks.
