Hi all,
Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Arianna and I live in New York City. Not only am I new to this forum but I am also new to the world of DSLRs. I am the proud and slightly intimidated owner of:

EOS 400D, Sigma 28-300 f 3.5-6.3 and a borrowed tripod

I just stepped up from point and shoot and am just getting my hands (literally and figuratively) around this lovely but mysterious beast (I'm not enjoying lugging all of this stuff around, especially in this torrid weather).

It's probably very short notice but this weekend, the Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival will be held in Flushing Meadows Park. It seems like an event rife with photo opportunities so I wonder if anyone is interested in going on Sunday August 5.

Cheers and stay cool (except for the folks down under, I just came from there and it's probably still a bit cool).

Welcome to the forum, Arianna. You may want to introduce yourself in the general chat section of the forum, which has much more activity than does this portion.

Is there a website that speaks of this festival? I'd be interested in attending, but probably on Saturday instead.

I was supposed to go to this but something came up. Post up some pics when you get back.
