Why is Ken Rockwell so hated?

Been noticing that Ken seems to have a bad rep on these forums. Why is that? I've read through some of his articles and he makes valid points. Granted, he is opinionated, but arn't we all?

Can't say that I am overwhelmed with his photographic skill (I wasn't blown away by any of his pictures. Some of them are good, but I've seen pictures posted by people here that are much more stunning).

Still, I don't know if that's enough to write off a guy's advice/blog as completely worthless.

not only does he make points that are not valid, but he also makes them in non-intelligent ways. His writing skills are that of a 12 year old. And that is what hes good at so i dont even want to discuss his photography skills.

There are many reasons, but I hate him because he thinks he's god's gift to photography and his gallery is mediocre. He also gives false information, and writes some reviews on things he hasn't even tried.

Lots of hard feelings here - I kind of feel bad for the guy. Hate is an ugly word...

Read post #32 on this post.
https://photography-on-the.net …light=ken+rockwell&page=3
It's from a workshop he helped to TEACH! Yes teach as in people paid money for his knowledge.

I actually agree with much of his philosophical views, such as why cameras don't matter and such, but his technical knowledge if often plain wrong and his images are mediocre at best.

What saddens me is that some newbies are taking his words seriously. My guilty pleasure is to visit his site once in a while and read his articles. Kinda like looking at car wrecks while driving.

If there is an internet village of photographers, then he is either the greatest satirest or the internet village idiot.

I dont think that is it. I think that if he was giving reviews that helped people and was getting paid for it no one would mind, they might actually respect him. But, his reviews tend to be unintelligent, biased and give false information. That is why people hate him. When someone needs information they look online find his stuff almost immediately and are fed invalid information hurting their learning process.
