Hi guys,
I'm not actually sure what this is -- only thing I can think of is some sort of wingless wasp. It's about an inch long and has huge mandibles. I sent the pics to a local entomologist friend of mine, but thought perhaps one of the resident experts here may have an idea until my friend gets back to me.

I spotted it climbing up the blade of some grass while taking a shot of this crab spider with prey.

Notice all the tiny flies on the bee's body?
