Did anyone else notice how the leftmost digit in the ISO can spell A? I feel auto iso coming ![]() Nice observation...though it seems like it would still need another digit to disply A (iso speed) if it required a setting over 999. though I guess it could simply dislplay "AISO" and possibly display the speed selected by the camera in the vewfinder. Doesn't seem like "AUTO" is a possibility since there would no way to make a "T" from the displayed 3rd segment. It is however, interesting that the left hand digit is not shown as a full "8" digit. How many here wouldn't trade Live view for better weather sealing? Does "sensor clean" work well? I read an article a while ago comparing all the dust removing DSLR's including the xti (excluding MkIII) and they said that it was pretty much useless. canon wants you to go from a 30D to the next 5D... this body is for people switching over to dSLR and canon customers upgrading from Rebels or the 10D.

There is a difference between photo of top lcd display 40D and diagram of this dispaly. On diagram there is a extra box for metering mode (box with a dop inside). On the photo of 40D there is no box. See: http://www.northlight-images.co.uk/Canon_40D.html So diagram might be fake. What do You think?? Same setup as my 20D, no 'box' on the top LCD, but when you click it on, it shows up and shows the metering mode, almost positive my 5D was the same T2i gripped with kit lenshttp://75.126.234.18/forum/showthread.php?t=400860

I read an article a while ago comparing all the dust removing DSLR's including the xti (excluding MkIII) and they said that it was pretty much useless. Are all of those things that you mentioned improvements? certainly. But wouldn't it have been better if they introduced a new AF system (more sensors or cross type sensors) and 6400 ISO? Tell me you wouldn't trade 6400 ISO and a better AF (not implying that the current AF is bad) for at least 5 of those things you mentioned above. Listen, for all we know we are debating over a really well done PS picture of a 30D. LOL I hope the specs are BS and we get a couple of nice surpises... ![]() I more or less agree with you but I'm using a 20D. If I had a 30D I would be less inclined to upgrade.

I don't agree. The 5D is not an upgrade to the 30D it is in a different class for the most part. It is a side step. They generally have different purposes. I myself, and I assume many others, want or have a 5D and use it to compliment their 20D, 30D or 1D markII/markIII.

Tom Auto could easily be spelled out with a capital "A" and lower case "u", "t", and "o".

I really don't agree with the assessment that Canon wants the 30D people to upgrade to a 5D! I expect those folks to upgrade to the 40D. Same line, same 1.6X. I used to want to move to the 5D but realized it wasn't an upgrade but a sidestep. I would gain very little IQ and lose the long lens effect and I couldn't stand that with my 100-400. So, I'm going to use my money for the 40D and a new lens hopefully. That will be a step up for me!
