Proper Way To Use A Flash for Macro

I am using a 430EX. How should I use it for Macro? I mean, reflected softer light. Should I use a bounce card or a "Sofen"?

I once saw a picture showing how to use a A4 paper, but cannot find it anymore.

Not sure there is a proper way- you need to find something that works for you. The paper one you mention might be this. http://www.flickr.com/​photos/lordv/248177806​/ (external link)

Having said that I think the ideal is a diffuser on the flash and the flash mounted (on a bracket) so the diffuser ends up near the end of the lens.
