This was taken a while ago. It wasn't taken with a canon, but with an old Yashica mat tlr medium format camera. This was from the first roll of film I shot through the camera. I really like the way it turned out though. I was contacted a few weeks ago by a buyer at a really large clothing/ furniture store, and they are converting this image and two others of mine into wall art to sell at their stores. woo hoo! The store's geared toward teenage/ college age people. I don't know how many people would actually buy this image, but its pretty cool nonetheless. What do you think of it? anything you would change? I have to submit final copies to them soon!

Congrats on having a buyer. Your hobby is actually paying for itself. I'd keep it just the way it is.

A really cool image. Obviously created by someone with a lust for 'Typography'. I do not think I'd change it. Of course I think you should let the buyers choose if they want to change it. If it were mine, I'd let them if they had plans for it.

Was it taken on Slide or Neg film? What lens of on that Yashica TLR? I use my old Rollieflex TLR from time to time. The images it creates cannot be created in any other way. It's, erm, special :)

Thanks for the comments! This was taken with some expired Kodak Portra 160vc. I don't know what kind of lens is on the yashica, It's fixed on there, 80mm is the length.

ah, i thought as much, the fixed lens on the RollieT is 75mm, and the images produced by that look similar to the results obtained in your picture. Of course with medium format, a 75mm lens equates to perhaps 50mm lens in '35mm camera terminology' (due to the larger image projection area)

It is so good to work with these old TRL camera. If only film developing / costs were cheaper. Does anyone know if digital backs are available for TLRs?? Well, I guess they'd cost a lot also....

Did they mention changing the image in any way? If it were mine, I'd change it like this**. But I still think it looks good as it is though, and of course so did the buyers :)

** -levels to make more yellow/green (i like green images too much these days :( )
-crop
-straightened wall on the right side (free transform)
-selective 'desaturation' on the red building in the top left corner to tone it down
-selective boosting of levels on the rubbish bin, and 'slightly' surrounding it (lasso tool and 'feather')
-clone tool (to get rid of the lamp - it was distracting with my choice of crop as it was half cut off, but looks good in your image)
-slight vignette

Hey, thanks for the comments! I think your version turned out really well Andrew. I think the dumpster might be a little too bright... but I'd like to brighten up some of the other areas like you did. I like the crop too.
Here's the other two shots they're buying. Yay!

Wow. That's so cool. How did they find you? Just by stumbling across your website? If you do change the photo make sure you give them both copies (original + modified). They did, after all, like the original photos. But they just might love the modified ones. Who knows? ;)

are those other two (the night time 'bar' photo and the record shop photo) shot on film also as opposed to digital. I like the record shop photo (the detail, the colours, and the perspective)

Cool shots cocheese! I really like the record shop pic. I used to D.J. back in the day( still have equipment :)) and my thing was to splurge on records. I had collected over 15 crates of vinyl and some of these are very hard to find nowadays. Thanks for bringing back the memories with that shot. :)
