Comparison: Helicon v. f32 on Agave victoria regina

I was organizing the recovered files from my hard drive crash, when I noticed that I had a shot at f32 to compare against my focus stack taken at f8 The second image is the Helicon composite (unedited) taken with a Sigma 180 mm at f8. The first image is taken at f/32 with the same lens.

In subsequent replies,I will post several crops for comparison.

I was amazed at the amount of diffraction.

This is an unedited 100% crop of the point. In addition to the greater detail, you cansee a halo in the Helicon image.

Not suprised at the diffraction at F32 don't think I've ever shot that small but good demo

Interesting comparison but hey what's F32

I'm not sure of my facts here but I thought that some of the Native American Tribes used the Spine of these or maybe the ' Agave americana 'Marginata' ?? for sewing, if you take the Spine & bend it backward until it gives way then still holding the Spine tear it down the length of the plant you're left with the two outer fibers still attached to the Spine thus creating a Needle & Thread.

Another useless piece of info unless you rip your Pants in the desert

Thanks Brian and Mark. Before focus stacking, I used to stop all the way down of a number of shots because many cactus images needed depth of field even more the absolute sharpness.

Mark, my favorite use of the agave is (hiccup)..never mind.

Do the halos that programs like Helicon produce annoy anyone else besides me?

They are really annoying and require PS time to eliminate.
