I've shown this shot to a few friends, and have gotten mixed results. What's your opinion? should this go straight to the "for deletion" pile?:(

Yes it should, I personally wouldn't have spent the time resizing it and hosting it

I am not a fan of the drops on the lens at all. I do like the building, and would serve as a great subject with no rain, better lighting, and favorable looking sky...

What do you mean "for delete" there is no "for" there is just delete or don't delete. :)

I'd love to see this without the rain distortion, could be a great shot.

I like the raindrops. I am no expert but I kinda think it adds to the photo in this case.
I think its all personal preference.

Not appealing. I don't like the blurriness of the rain drops.

Looks interesting to me because I have not seen it in real life and don't know where it is, Therefore I enjoyed looking at it.
Not sure about the rain drops, but hell it was raining wasn't it.

My rule is if it's in focus, it can...at the very least...make for a fun photoshop project.

here's my take on it, hope you don't mind :)

I like how there's a no-parking sign right in the middle of the parking lot with arrows pointing both ways.....where are you supposed to park? lol :D

thank you all for you comments and candidness; I truly appreciate it, and I don't mind the modified version (in fact I like it much better than my original). In all honesty, I didn't really like mine and found it surprising that some of my friends did, that's why I posted it - I needed some sort of validation, or at the very least some honest comments from photographers (friends will sometimes say what you want to hear to avoid hurting your feelings) who could offer different perspectives.
The results: I'll be going by this place again when it's raining, and try to re-capture without the drops on the lens.
BTW, I tried the b&w, and although its an improvement, I'm still not 100% happy with it, but thanks again for the suggestions.

alex
