What a fun time out! The 5d arrived yesterday and I thought I would see how well it could handle macro. Well... I have to say...I'm going to have to get used to a full frame camera. Coming from the 20D... this is a big change. The 100mm is now a 100mm LOL The extra reach the 20D gives me isn't there.

SO... I have to get closer... all in all... it just makes shooting macro more fun. Most of these shots were at f/9.0, ISO 800 or less... many at ISO 800 and the camera does a great job with high ISO's. Shooting natural light is tough.... I think... and with the wind blowing hard... I had to crank up the ISO to keep the shutter speeds up.

I've very pleased with the end results. I shot raw... and I can't believe how sharp the shots are coming straight from raw. I had to apply very little sharpening...if any! I shot with AI Servo...CF 17 set to expansion... I think the combo did a nice job keeping the eyes in focus. Under the conditions I was in... again... I am very pleased with the camera.

Let me know what you think...

Thanks for looking.

Quite excellent images there. The 5D is a phenomenal camera, and macro is a joy. Super huge viewfinder for easy MF, nice high ISO IQ for those ever so hard natural light macro shots. You're obviously doing an awesome job. Keep it up! ;-)a

I can't help but crack up everytime I see a dragon like in your first shot there. They look so friendly!
