Hello everybody;

This is my first thread on this forum, I just register today. I received yesterday my new Canon f/2.8 100mm USM macro. For now this lens will be used with my Canon XTi. I start shooting Digital Photography about 18 months ago with a Sony H1 and a few months later I bought the Canon 500D to be used with the Sony for Close-Up photography. Then about 2 months ago I get the Canon XTi. So I'm a rookie, yes I'm.

I have been reading the threads on this forum and I think I came to the right place. I have two questions, I'll really appreciate any answers;

1. Please give any tips or suggestion on using the lens. I play with the lens today, but I would love to read about the people who has experience with this lens.

2. Do have any suggestion on a good book about Macro Photography, what I'm looking for in the content is; D-SLR Macro Photography, Exposure, Composition, Equipment, Accesories, Examples that contains the Efix Data, and...

I hope I can post my first macro shot here so you all can tell me what I'm doing wrong or right.

Thanks in advance.

Regards.

Hector.

Welcome to the forum Hector. :D

I don't have the canon 100 f/2.8 so I'm no help there, but if you search this forum for that lens I'm sure you'll come up with some helpfull info. Also some of the folks on here will likely chime in to help. And please post your first macro shot, comments and critique are a great way to learn. Take care.

Welcome to the forum. You'll find that most of the comments here apply to any macro lens apart from perhaps the MPE-65.
Lots of hints, tips and setups on my stuff here

hfgerena,
The best tip/suggestion for the Canon 100mm f/2.8 lens is to go out and use/enjoy it :) It's a great lens and gives great macro/portrait photos ;)
There is plenty of info on the forum like here in the Macro, Canon EF and EF-S lenses and in other areas on the POTN forum :)
The Complete Guide To Close_Up & Macro Photography by Paul Harcourt Davies was a descent macro book (in my opinion) ;)

Oh, and Welcome to the POTN forums :)
