so 3 you can automate (bracketing) but how do you take 7?

1. You can set the EC manually and expose 1/3 of stop at a time. Should be able to do 12 that way, I havent tried it, but you could I guess.

2.You could AEB +/-1 and shoot -2, -1 and zero, then AEB +/-1 and shoot 0, +1 and +2 and then erase one of the "0" and have 5 exposures?

I am guessing, cuz like you I am still playing with 3 exposures...

You are using stops to far apart. I do most of mine at one stop, sometimes maybe 1.5.

What you want in a great HDR image is lots of detail that can be brought out.

I'd say the choice of image you have made does not have enough detail that benefits from HDR work.

Here are a few examples;

These are very nice. I've never tried HDR before. I guess I have to start googling for HDR tutorials.

Ok, here is my problem maybe you guys can help with, I have done a few HDR as well as general landscapes and I consistantly see peoples pics similar to those above that the DR is very good, but my thing is it also seems that the "sharpness" is consistant also from the foreground through the background, when you guys are doing HDR or landscapes in general for that matter, are you chaging your focus point at all during the multi exposures??

No, Focus point does not change, not for me anyway.

When landscapes are shot the f/stop is dialed down which helps the DOF.
