Well I just got my 100mm this week and finally got to try it out again today. This is my second shoot with the lens.

I have no idea what type of spider it is, all I know is it was tiny!

C&C is wanted and welcome.

Nice shot- not sure but think it's either a baby wolf spider or possibly a sac spider.

Thanks guys!

Do you guys have any suggestions on how I could improve a picture such as this in the future, technique wise? I'm a newb to macro (not to mention digi photo as a whole :p ).

And yes, I HATE spiders. How I got the courage to shoot this one is beyond me. I guess I figured the lens hood would save me :p.

Thanks for the comments!

Main advice is just get out there and shoot- try different apertures to look at the effects of DOF and diffraction softening. Also try natural light and shooting in M mode with the pop up flash if you haven't got a flash gun (M mode, 1/200th F11 ISO 200 is a good place to start).

Thanks Brian. I pretty much ONLY shoot in M. I pretty much learned to do that after being forced to in my photography class, heh. I do have an external flash; the 430EX. I'm currently saving up for a flash bracket and the off-shoe cord to give me more flexibility when shooting macro photos.

Thanks for the suggestions!
