Linda,
Again, thanks for the tips and I also checked out your pbase galleries....some beautiful shots you have there. Your macros seem to be sharper than mine, maybe the camera, maybe my settings.
Question: is the 350d the same as the xt? Just an older model? I'm looking to possiblity purchase dslr as I've discovered that my a610 has it's limitations.
Thanks for looking at the galleries and glad you liked some of the pics
Compact camera's do have their limitations but are very handy to have all the same. The sharpness could be down to a number of things, but obviously you wont have the same results and various photographic options as you will with a dslr.
Yes, the 350D is the same as the XT and a very good camera it is too. As it was superceded by the 400D you should be able to get one at a very good price, but of course you then have the added expense of your lense choices and then external flash etc, but all this can be purchased over time, which is what I have done. As you seem very keen on macro photography, I would suggest the Canon EF-S 60mm macro as my first recommendation for a macro lense, its slightly cheaper than the longer focal length ones, and then the next purchase could be an external flash - this certainly gives that edge on sharpness.
Its quite a learning curve initially from compact to dslr, but well worth going down that route, it opens up a whole new world
