I've not been posting many of my shots here lately but I thought I'd share these. I can't remember the young kids full name but his first name is Dustin. He played in the middle of Jon Christopher Davis' set and then he played a couple of songs with them when JCD came back up on stage.

It was a treo night with no drummer, but it was a great show.

Jon is mentoring to this kid who is just an amazing vocalist and guitar player.

On a side note Jon Christopher Davis had a nice writeup in USA today last Tuesday. One of his tunes made the author's "playlist".

Nice set. Some small nags:
I'ld have preferred a bit more space on the right on #3, a bit more face on #5 and a bit more DoF (I think) on #1.
Nice B&W as well.

I'm not sure I disagree with anything you've written.

On #3 I played with the crop several times, I did not want to cut out the instruments in the background..probably should.

I was shooting wide open and thought I'd have enough DOF on #1, I can live with it though. I've got several like #5 I just liked the head tilt. The rest can be seen by going through my blog to my website.

Maybe it's me, but I can't seem to find the images...
Only JCD galleries are from 2006?

Yep. See it now... Must have looked over it.

Some have maybe a bit much NR? Either that, or they have really smooth skin ;)
I like the first of the three 'head tilted' (9709) better then the one you posted here.
Not much difference, but certainly better.

It is an outdoor "porch", very popular place and gets some "local" big names.

The colors in one are real nice... The "face" looked a bit weird, till the entire image uploaded...I'd crop #2 tighter, maybe 1/2 inch off around the edges...Real nice set...

Thanks John,

The reason for the crop is to make sure the title of the beer company can be made out. It helps to identify this very popular and important venue. The reason it is important it is a "feather in the cap" of up and coming performers.

It's nice to see someone looking out for the performers interests.

It might not be obvious up front, but in the long run, the entire idea of these captures is to complement the subjects...
