One of the rare in focus bird shots I have from the MkIII

The noise handling is simply astounding. Though here this is the "after" post processing shot which included NR, I actually printed this image on the IPF5000 at 17"x21" with no noise reduction.. it really didn't need any!

Taken with EF 500mm f/4L IS and 1.4X T-C f/7.1
Iso was 500

Wow, stunning shot, I love wathcing these birds I'd never guess this was taken at ISO 500. I love the angle, was he high up or were you lying low? he looks rather fat in this photo :D

Very nice shot of this cute little bird, I really like the light and the pose and the low noise level of the mkIII is quite amazing. :-)

Great shot with that morning light look. I thought Canon had fixed that focus problem with a firmware update?

Well, I met a guy at the wetlands last week. He was using the 500L f/4 and a sigma 1.4 and tamron 1.4 and we stacked my sigma 2x in the middle and it autofocused just fine. I haven't seen the images yet on a monitor, but in camera preview with a magnifier, they looked sharper than anything I've gotten with my 30D, I hate to admit. :)

thanks guys.
I was shooting "up hill" on these.. which gives a pretty unusual angle for a piper..

My MkIII goes in the mail to Canon this afternoon.

Beauty of a shot, at last something good good to say about the III. Apart from then putting it in the mail.

 Oh well,
I've actually posted a number of good things about the MkIII
It's my dream camera in every sense, I feel as if Canon built it for me to my specs,.

Funny thing is that no one replies to the good threads I post about it :)

The one I got to play with with double TC's on it seemed to work exceptionally well and the owner was completely satisfied with it. I watched him shoot an egret at way to far distance against a tree background, then I used my little magnifier to view the previews expanded up and they looked better than anything I have shot.

That's why I asked, I thought Canon's firmware update had taken care of the problem. Not that I know much about the problem anyway, just seems bad business to put out a professional camera that has those kinds of problems. :)

Is human nature, bad news will always gather more of an audience than good news.

Still not going to put me off getting a III from Santa this year though. I hope I can take as good a shot as that when I do ;)

Great shot Jake. So that's the lens I need to aim for?
I haven't tested my Sigma 1.4 tc since I bought the 1D. Maybe it's time to do so.
