grasshopper with new B+W filter attach

well i almost gotten my front element scratch the other day so i decided to attach the filter. how many of you use a filter? and do you think it does effect the image somewhat.

Doubt it affects image quality in any noticeable manner but you are much more likely to get lens flare effects. Don't think many of us use filters for protection, I certainly don't.

Well I bought a fairly expensive one for the 70-200 F4L USM when I first got the lense two years ago - I tried some shots with it and it definately appeared to affect the quality to me so I havent used it since. At first I thought it was my imagination, but I have read of many others that say they noticed a difference.
