Not an edict, but I encourage you to try Safari. Not because it is Mac, not because it ISN'T IE7, strictly to see what a colour managed browser can do for you.

The latest build of Safari seems to like Windows more and I've not %100 switched, but I use Safari to peruse POTN now. Images are showing very, very well.

This is old news for some yes, but as I mentioned - the lastest beta build is rendering nicely and stable as well. It displays prophoto.rgb colour profiles apparently.

Open this image with Safari and you other, non-colour managed browser and flick between the two:

It's high time IE7, Opera and Firefox got into the 21st century. See this as well:

Every browser has its flaws. I cannot get backspace to work as "back" and there is no option to kill underlined links out of the box. You have to right click to open a tab. Ugh.

Bottom line it's about time IE8 came out with colour management. I think that is 1.5 years away.

And i just found out that safari doesnt like my dual lcd set up. If i have it open on the second screen and then maximise the window, it dissapears and i cant bring it back up so i have to close it.

it's nearly 2008 and we can't see the internet in a viable way:

It's almost frightening really just how "unadvanced" technology is right now. It feels like 1977 again.

So now you have a browser that shows your photos in aRGB, stack that against the vast majority of machines (customers/friends/family) run windows IE/Firefox.
People viewing them will be viewing in (sRGB), the photos will look nice to you if you use aRGB but suck to almost everyone else online. Am I missing something here? Why do I need to install Safari?

Yours puzzled...

Puzzled? Well at some point people need to be aware of what they are missing and/or be prepared for what's coming in technology.

It's just time for photography to geti ts fair shake. Seriously, this should have been done 5 years ago.

People don't much care for missing features only a tog or a printer cares about, so much as easy, IE comes installed, for most thats all they will use, a few will venture to firefox (both sRGB). I can't see apple bundling safari with microsoft operating systems somehow.

I might be wrong (it happens ;) ) but I think this has about as much chance of becoming mainstream (basing on market percentages of operating systems/browsers used) as edible underwear does.

So that still leaves the issue of everyone seeing your aRGB through an sRGB browser, that's the puzzling bit mate because the world will only be filled with vibrant colour for you :)

Most people use their computer to view images. It's all my grandma and mother use it for (that and genealogy).

Email, internet browsing. All depend on images. Images that should be displayed properly. right?

Instead of trying to get everyone to install another browser, why not just change your embedded profile to sRGB instead? You can do it when you save for web in the first place. It's not like you print from your webbies anyway.

Did you lose Digital Photo Professional (DPP)? Get it here (external link). Cursing at your worse-than-a-map reflector? Check out this vid! (external link)

Displayed properly to what? To the colours when you took the shot? no digital camera has perfect verbatim colour reproduction, you don't need me to tell you that.
Any colourspace is flawed in true colour reproduction, it only produces consistent colour between 2 mediums :)

so... images displayed properly to your colourspace? or the majorities browser colourspace? tricky :)

Until the mainstream browsers support aRGB, im just going to keep using sRGB for my web stuff.
