Let me say that I know this is far from an impressive picture technically, and I hesitated to post it. But it's Alex Rodriguez hitting his 500th home run on Saturday at Yankee Stadium. All I had with me is my little Canon SureShot 600, and I had to take it from way out past the foul pole, hand held, at full zoom. Now, if I knew he was going to hit his first pitch of the game out of the park I would have tried to set myself up better. But anyway it's a keeper for me personally since it's taken from my perspective.

The lesson is - always take the camera!

Did everyone stand before the pitch or after the hit?

They've been doing standing O's for him before he hit for about a week... as he said in the post-game interview, "a lot of people wasted a lot of kodak film on me this week"...

That is sOOoooooo 1997...lol

To the O.P. its all about the moment. 500hr and in about 6 years or so he may be up on Barry's record. How cool would it be if you could be there for 600 and 700, that would be a nice set:D

For a lil P&S, it did pretty good

That pic is a keeper. Now, when Bonds breaks the HR record...I would love to see it broken faster that he did. Although, the most likely suspect to do so (ARod) would not be my first pic.

BTW Tom, do the NY fans think that ARod is a 'curse' of sorts since leaving Texas for NY?

I don't hear that. I know a lot of people don't care for him, but hey, everybody can't be Mr. Personality. And the guy is having a great year.

Thanks for comments folks!

picture quality is only 1/2 the battle. I think more important to capture a great moment.
