No doubt... those pictures look interesting though, but they're probably all Photoshopped 'artist impressions' :p

And off to the rumor forum this thread goes...

I'd be interested in a 5D MKII. I imagine it'll probably incorporate the sensor cleaning technology, larger LCD, maybe boast a faster shutter speed of 5 fps, improved buffer and ISO selectable to 6400. If I had to guess these would be the major subtle differences.

Ive seen those "pictures" on a rumour page before. They were found to be pretty much fake as far as i can remember.

Those pictures have been circulating for a while now, and proven to be fake.

Keep in mind that the 40D rumors have been floating around for 18+ months. Remember how many dozens of pages were adamant that it was coming out in August 2006 "right on schedule." Now we're seeing stock numbers and Canon-host pages and so on. By comparison, there's a total dearth of 5D2 trivia, so I suspect it's a ways off. Like most everyone else, I'd love to be wrong, but I doubt well see it within the year. August 08 seems much more realistic.

I didn't think there would be any truth and/or possibility of a 5D II this year, however, I just noticed that the 5D at B&H just dropped about $300 in price this week. It was at $2,850 or so and now it's selling at $2,585. Hopefully it's not just a sale or coincidence!! I would sell my car to get the new 5D!! I'm kind of tired of my Xt. It's a great camera but it's weak, small, and seriously lacking in options compared to the other SLR's in Canon's lineup. I do plan to keep my Xt in service as a second/backup camera since I shoot thunderstorms that take up a LOT of the sky and a massive wide angle isn't always the best solution, so two frames taking twice the amount of sky and lightning detail is ideal. Is the price drop an indication to a transition or am I mistaken?

Other places have had the 5D in the mid $2500 range for quite awhile. Must be B&H found out they were losing sales with their price gouging ;).
